Director, Fleet Equipment

Assists the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the selection, purchasing, and maintenance of Sentinel's tractor/trailer fleet, and collaborates closely with Safety, Regulatory, and Environment colleagues to ensure that Sentinel's fleet and equipment are in compliance to all state and federal standards and regulations. Oversees the design, training, execution, and monitoring of all maintenance policies, procedures, and programs. Conducts ongoing research into new and/or emerging approaches to purchasing and/or maintaining tractors, trailers, and other equipment. Maintains a keen awareness of trends within the transportation industry that could have an impact on Sentinel's fleet and equipment.

Requirements | Skills and/or Experience

  • Minimum of 10 or more years working experience in the transportation industry
  • Previous experience in the purchasing and maintenance of transportation related equipment, including the management of relationships with equipment vendors and suppliers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FMCSA, DOT and other regulations related to the transportation of chemicals and petroleum products required
  • Demonstrated expertise in the management of safety requirements, regulatory standards, operating procedures, and preventative maintenance protocols within the transportation or related industry
  • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in a range of settings, using a mix of verbal and written communication styles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required for the role

Requirements | Education / Certificate / License

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably within an area related to engineering, logistics, supply chain management, finance or related.
  • ASE certification required.
  • 10+ years of management experience
